List of terms used in ASTER

The device in ASTER is called any component of computer hardware that can be assigned to a specific workstation. There are, at present, displays, monitors, keyboards, mice, joysticks, different sound playback devices, web cameras. As you develop, other types of devices will be added to ASTER.
Devices are displayed in the "Workplaces" tab of the main window of the “ASTER Control” program. In this tab, you can view and distribute devices by dragging and dropping devices from one place to another or by explicitly assigning a workstation to a particular device

When you hover the mouse pointer over the device, a small hint pops up that contains the device type, name, and current assignment to the workstations.

By right-clicking on the device image, you get a shortcut menu for this device. In the whole-detail display mode, if the workstation contains several devices of some class, in the lower right corner of the device image you will see the number of such devices (in the form * N, where N is the number)

The blue frame around the image means that the device is currently active. A blinking purple frame indicates that the device has just been connected.

The device in the niche behind the grid is a device in an inaccessible workplace. This means that the device is assigned to a location that is not currently licensed and not available (for example, due to the end of the trial period or temporary license). You can keep such a device in a similar 'arrested' way to save the appointment for the future, or you can drag it to available workplaces.

Display

This device is a display (more precisely, the video surface of the video adapter). Displays are marked with the identifier of the type 'A.S', where A is the number of the video card, S is the number of the video surface on the map. A semi-transparent (off) display of the display means that the video surface is not connected to any video output (and hence with any monitor). The name of the display device contains the name of the video card, the type of video output, and the name of the monitor (if available)
